Itinerary

Day 1 – Mkomazi National Park

After an early breakfast, depart from Arusha and drive east toward Mkomazi National Park, one of Tanzania’s quieter and less-visited safari gems. Set between the Pare Mountains and the Usambara Mountains, the park offers open savannah, acacia woodland, and sweeping views toward Mount Kilimanjaro on clear days.

Enjoy a full-day game drive where you may spot giraffes, zebras, elands, hartebeests, oryx, elephants, and many bird species. Mkomazi National Park is also known for conservation programs for black rhinos and African wild dogs, making it a particularly unique stop on the northern circuit.

A picnic lunch will be served inside the park before transferring to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 – Arusha National Park

After breakfast, return toward Arusha and continue to Arusha National Park, a beautiful and diverse park known for its lush forest, open grasslands, crater lakes, and excellent views of Mount Meru.

During your game drive, you may encounter giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks, zebras, flamingos, and the striking black-and-white colobus monkeys that inhabit the forested slopes. The park is also one of the most scenic destinations in northern Tanzania.

After a picnic lunch, continue your afternoon wildlife viewing before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park, famous for its giant baobab trees and some of the largest elephant herds in Tanzania.

Spend the day exploring the park’s varied habitats around the Tarangire River, where wildlife gathers throughout the year. You may see elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impalas, ostriches, and predators such as lions.

After a picnic lunch and afternoon game drive, continue to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 – Ngorongoro Crater

After an early breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater.

The crater floor offers one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. During your game drive, you may see lions, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, hyenas, and, with luck, the endangered black rhino.

After a picnic lunch near the hippo pool, continue your afternoon game drive before ascending the crater and proceeding toward the Serengeti National Park area for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, continue into the endless plains of Serengeti National Park.

Enjoy a game drive en route to your lodge or tented camp. The Serengeti offers some of Africa’s most iconic safari scenery, with excellent opportunities to spot lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and hyenas.

Dinner and overnight inside the park.

Day 6 – Serengeti National Park

Spend a full day exploring Serengeti National Park, one of the world’s greatest wildlife sanctuaries.

Set out early in the morning when animals are most active. Your guide will follow recent wildlife sightings and seasonal movement patterns to maximize game-viewing opportunities. Depending on the time of year, you may witness part of the Great Migration.

A picnic lunch will be served in the bush before continuing your afternoon game drive. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 7 – Serengeti National Park

Enjoy another full day in Serengeti National Park, giving you more time to explore different sectors of the park.

With three days in the Serengeti, there is greater flexibility to reach wildlife-rich areas depending on the season and recent animal activity. Expect more opportunities to encounter predators, large herbivore herds, and the vast beauty that makes the Serengeti legendary.

Return to your lodge or camp for your final overnight in the park.

Day 8 – Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, depart from the Serengeti National Park and drive toward Lake Manyara National Park for your final safari experience.

Nestled below the dramatic escarpment of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Manyara National Park offers lush forest, open grasslands, and the alkaline shores of Lake Manyara. During your game drive, you may see elephants, baboons, giraffes, hippos, zebras, flamingos, and—if lucky—the park’s famous tree-climbing lions.

After lunch, continue your return journey to Arusha, marking the end of your safari with Bavon Tours and Safaris.
